BAGWORM
Bagworm (Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis) is an unusual type of moth that is an economically damaging defoliator of a large range of trees. The larva (caterpillar) secretes a silky case around itself and ornaments the case with leaves or other plant material for camouflage and protection. The larva projects partly from this case, which it carries as it moves around to feed on leaves, then pupates at the end of the season by attaching the case to a branch or twig.
