CLAVELLINA (Opuntia schottii)
The mat-forming cactus Opuntia schottii (commonly known as clavellina) is quite common in desert pavement regions of the Chihuahuan Desert. Here it is seen (above the marked line) in the partial shade of a creosote bush, which clearly shows signs of drought because its leaves have turned golden-brown. |
